Working from your Strength
- Leveraging the positives in your style - Part 1
We continue what we started and look at a few more positive traits that can
be capitalized upon. From the
September Journal we covered...
1. You are Dependable
2. You are
Organized
3. You are Investigational
Now we turn to others...
4. You are a
Trailblazing Pioneer
You seem to create something out of nothing. You have the
energy to start down a new road that no one has even thought of
before. Spontaneously working in new area is your gift.
You are not afraid to try things out. You are not afraid
to start something when you don't really know if it will pan
out. You are adventurous and exploratory. You boldly
go where no one has gone before.

Autodesk University Preview - What classes am I doing?
I will be teaching classes at AU 2007 again this year. I have refreshed
and refined the classes I have done before.
I have added a new class on
Preventative CAD Management. It covers a large topic of Preventative (or
proactive) CAD Management. The concept of setting up processes and
guidelines in order to prevent things from going wrong. In contrast,
reactive management responds to problems as they arise. This is part of the
job, but can often create a need to constantly respond to (but not avoid)
problems. Like the preventative measure of changing the oil in your car,
there are preventative CAD Management methods you can put into place to
avoid having troubles in the future.

CAD Manager Career Path:
The CAD Manager career
path is one of the youngest forms of management in our technically advancing
world. With the introduction of CAD in the mid eighties, there came a need
for someone specialized technicians to run the computers. With the
multiplication of systems, managers were needed to coordinate work efforts
and all of the processes that surrounded the electronic drafting functions.

The
Infections
Here
is a brief list of some of the areas that may be infected by having a gap
that is too wide between your best user and your worst.
1. The
expert users will be frustrated because they have to slow down and use CAD
at a lower level than they want to.

September 2007 Survey
How satisfied are you with
Autodesk?
I asked a few questions about how satisfied
you are with Autodesk in several areas. These included cost vs. value,
help in learning and customer service. While the overall satisfaction
is up, the individual areas may need some work.
