Firmness of purpose; resolve<br \/>\nb. A fixed intention or resolution<\/p>\n<p>It has also been said that determination is the ability to look past ostacles and not just stare at them.<\/p>\n<p>Winston Churchill put it well when he spoke in 1941&#8230; &#8220;Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never&#8211;in nothing,  \tgreat or small, large or petty&#8211;never give in, except to convictions of  \thonor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently  \toverwhelming might of the enemy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now CAD Management is nothing like war, but determination is involved in both.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the CAD Managers &#8220;Never give in&#8217;s&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p>Never give in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To those that say Standards don&#8217;t matter.\u00a0 They do &#8211; because they define the boundaries of your CAD environment.<\/li>\n<li>To the desire to give up.\u00a0 No one will move CAD forward other than you.\u00a0 If you stop moving, your firm stops moving.<\/li>\n<li>To those that ignore your leadership.\u00a0 You have been put in charge of overseeing the technology of design.<\/li>\n<li>To those who think you can&#8217;t do the job.\u00a0 Show them that you can.<\/li>\n<li>To those who don&#8217;t think the firm needs a CAD Manager.\u00a0 Show them why it does.<\/li>\n<li>To those that who ignore you.\u00a0 Keep stating your case.<\/li>\n<li>To those that try to trump your decisions.\u00a0 Make sure they understand your authority.<\/li>\n<li>To the software that does not work the way you expect. Figure it out.<\/li>\n<li>To the hardware that limits your software&#8217;s functionality.
