{"id":3135,"date":"2014-01-28T06:06:09","date_gmt":"2014-01-28T13:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/?p=3135"},"modified":"2014-01-26T21:26:04","modified_gmt":"2014-01-27T04:26:04","slug":"critical-conversations-about-cad-identifying-an-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/2014\/01\/critical-conversations-about-cad-identifying-an-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Critical Conversations about CAD \u2013 Identifying an Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 6 of 8 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/series\/critical-conversations\/\" class=\"series-78\" title=\"Critical Conversations\">Critical Conversations<\/a><\/div><p>When CAD concerns continue without being addressed they become CAD &#8220;Issues&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Issues should be fairly easy to identify because someone should let you know about it.\u00a0 That does not always happen and we will discuss that in the next post.\u00a0 For now, let&#8217;s just identify the Issues.<\/p>\n<p>Issues are trouble spots that have impacted workflow and endanger deliverables, dollars or deadlines.\u00a0 These are the big &#8220;3Ds&#8221; that when put in danger&#8230;\u00a0 people notice.\u00a0 I mean they become concerned.\u00a0 Actually &#8211; it is an Issue.<\/p>\n<p>What are the things that people consider issue worthy?<\/p>\n<p>Things that cause delays.\u00a0 Things are slowing down or not moving fast enough.\u00a0 Troubles have impacted files and people are not able to get things done.\u00a0 Things that used to work are no longer working.\u00a0 Things that used to be easy are now hard.<\/p>\n<p>Things that cause client comments.\u00a0 Things may be humming along fine from your perspective, but the client does not.\u00a0 Client comments cause major issues with most project managers.<\/p>\n<p>Things that others want to blame on you.\u00a0 There &#8211; I said it.\u00a0 There are a lot of times when CAD is too easy to pick on.\u00a0 Everyone can just blame the CAD guy or the CAD file or the CAD Manager.\u00a0 You know it happens.\u00a0 You know that the project was tanking way before there were any &#8220;CAD Problems&#8221;.\u00a0 The trouble is that these comments are hard to deflect.\u00a0 Other than having perfect CAD files, which is really tough to do in a large environment (two or more users &#8211; lol), there may be little to do that can ward off blame issues.<\/p>\n<p>Issues are things that others just want to go away.\u00a0 They want you to fix them and fix them now.\u00a0 They expect them to be addressed and corrected.\u00a0 They are a call to action.
