{"id":2420,"date":"2011-05-25T07:47:52","date_gmt":"2011-05-25T14:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/?p=2420"},"modified":"2012-11-08T16:47:34","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T23:47:34","slug":"cad-manager-as-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/2011\/05\/cad-manager-as-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"CAD Manager as Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 5 of 11 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/series\/seven-functions-of-a-cad-manager\/\" class=\"series-74\" title=\"Seven Functions of a CAD Manager\">Seven Functions of a CAD Manager<\/a><\/div><p>Are you coordinated?\u00a0 Some folks can juggle baseballs, while riding a unicycle, on a tightrope wire.\u00a0 That would be a stretch for most of us, but some are more coordinated than others.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating is something that CAD Managers have to do every day.\u00a0 They orchestrate the flow of CAD work, schedule roll-outs and downtime, work with multiple departments, shuffle deadlines and work under pressure.\u00a0 Here are a few areas where coordination is needed.\u00a0 Some are very hands on and some are philosophical.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Work Flow:<\/strong> CAD Managers need to be embedded into the project work flow so they know what is coming.\u00a0 This is typically seen as critical when it comes to plotting output.\u00a0 Coordinating submittals between projects is important.\u00a0 Work with the PM&#8217;s to make sure that they are not landing on the same date and time.\u00a0 You will not be able to change submittal dates, but you can work with the PM to schedule the output.\u00a0 You may even have to outsource plotting if there is a major bottleneck.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Software Roll-outs: <\/strong> You will need to coordinate the timing of new software roll-outs.\u00a0 Make sure that they avoid major project submittals and milestones.\u00a0 Make sure that training is ready before the roll-out (if needed).
