{"id":1747,"date":"2010-04-14T05:23:29","date_gmt":"2010-04-14T12:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/?p=1747"},"modified":"2010-04-11T20:54:42","modified_gmt":"2010-04-12T03:54:42","slug":"the-options-of-autocad-2010-open-save-tab-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/2010\/04\/the-options-of-autocad-2010-open-save-tab-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"The Options of AutoCAD 2010-Open Save Tab-Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next on the Open and Save Tab we have the External XRef options.\u00a0 Xrefs are external files that are Attached or Overlaid to show information from other drawings.\u00a0 They load and refresh every time you open the host drawing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Options-Open5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1748\" title=\"Options-Open5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Options-Open5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Demand Loading Xrefs<\/strong> defines how you want your system to handle XRefs.\u00a0 There are three options:<\/p>\n<p>Disable; Enable and Enable with Copy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Options-Open5a.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1749\" title=\"Options-Open5a\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caddmanager.com\/CMB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Options-Open5a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"85\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you set it to Disable then Demand Loading is turned off and the entire drawing is loaded (this takes longer).<\/p>\n<p>When you set it to Enable, it turns on Demand loading.\u00a0 This improves performance by only opening areas that you need.\u00a0 If something is clipped, it is not loaded.\u00a0 If there is layer indexing, it only loads what you need.\u00a0 Enabled though allows the XRef to be locked and others cannot edit the file while you have it referenced.<\/p>\n<p>When you set it to Enable with Copy, a temporary copy of each referenced                 drawing file is stored in the folder set in the   Options                dialog box under the Files Tab. Additionally, xrefs load faster when  you  work across                a network: the performance enhancement  is most pronounced  when you                open drawings with many  xrefs.<\/p>\n<p>Set it to Enable with Copy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Retain changes to Xref Layers<\/strong> is the grand old VISRETAIN variable.\u00a0 One that I think Autodesk needs to make some heavy upgrades on.<\/p>\n<p>When this is turned on (checked) Xref-dependent layer changes made in the current drawing                               take precedence over the XRef original layer settings. Layer settings are saved  with the current drawing&#8217;s                               layer table and persist from session to  session.\u00a0 If you change the original file &#8211; the drawings that have this turned on and have edits to layer setting will never see the original changes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allow other users to Refedit current drawing<\/strong> controls whether the current drawing can be edited by others who have it referenced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Next on the Open and Save Tab we have the External XRef options.\u00a0 Xrefs are external files that are Attached or Overlaid to show information from other drawings.\u00a0 They load and refresh every time you open the host drawing.
