I'm in agreement with Ken. I've been using AutoCAD since release 11, but I've always been in very small offices and was either the only CAD person, or like I am now, the senior user. I work at a consulting engineering firm during the day (my full-time job) as a draftsman/CAD manager/network administrator and a few nights a week I work with a small architectural office with the same duties. At the engineering office there is 1 regular CAD user(me), and 4 others that use it(2 engineers, 2 project managers). At the architect's office, there are 2 draftsman, the architect, and myself. I have setup everything in both of these of offices, and everything is pretty solid. However, there are no standards in either office! I was never officially trained for the CAD Manager position, and both places are very financially bound(thus part of the reason I'm working two jobs). I found your website through the AUGI newsletter just today, but I read somewhere else in the last few months about creating an office CAD standard. The light bulb came on, but then dimmed when I couldn't figure where to start. This site has given me a lot of insight, and I will be spending a lot of time reading on it, and absorbing, then much more time trying create standards for both offices. It will be challenging since both offices work very different, one industrial engineering the other architecture, but I'm up to the task. Keep up the great blogs!

Thanks

Mark,

Are there any plans to compile all the blogs regarding CAD Standards into one document. If not, I think you should give it some thought.

BTW, Thanks for all the good information.
