The gap is widening between LT and full AutoCAD. LT may still fill a niche in your software tool belt, but it is getting harder to lock a person into the limitations of LT. Many casual users might benefit from the easy access to DWG files that LT provides, but those who need to create and be productive may soon decide that LT is not the tool for them.

  1. Hi Mark

Link to article does not appear to work.

    Cheers, Mike

  2. Another little thing that has long been lacking in LT is the ability to attach raster images to your file. This is important to my students where I teach once a year as they are in the interior design program and images are part of their bread and butter.

  3. We are always fielding questions about the differences between AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT (other than price!). The four biggies for determining what folks end up buying seem to be:

    -3D Capabilities
    -Network Licensing
    -Lisp Programming
    -3rd Party Add-Ons

If you need any of these things, AutoCAD LT probably won’t fit the bill. Full details on these specific features on our blog at http://www.manageddesigninc.com
